Tennis Court Cleaning
Do you have a tennis court covered in moss? We can help
Do you have a moss-covered Artifical surface? Is your artificial surface holding water and covered in moss or generally looking tired? We can help. The use of artificial “grass” has grown massively over the past few years. Having previously been pretty rare, it is now widely used in private gardens, and as artificial turf on football pitches, tennis-courts, and other Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA’s). Whilst sold as maintenance free we have found this is not strictly true.

Artificial grass is generally sold as being virtually maintenance free, but this is misleading. We firmly believe that, actually, it needs regular maintenance. For example, artificial football pitches and tennis courts can soak up sweat, spit, etc, and in these environments bacteria germinate. These can subsequently cause any small injuries that occur to become infected. In order to ensure they are safe to use, we firmly believe that these surfaces need regular disinfecting as well as cleaning and re-sanding.
Apart from the hygiene side of things, regular maintenance of synthetic sports areas saves money long term. Tennis courts and pitches that are maintained correctly also perform as intended. The extended lifespan of a correctly maintained surface far out way the cost of maintaining it.
A common question which we get asked is, “How often should artificial grass and tennis court maintenance tasks be performed?” Well, there’s no one answer to this; it very much depends on your particular situation.
- Tennis and sports courts
- Public buildings
- Hotels
- Restaurants
- Retail and business parks
- Car parks
- Swimming pools and their surrounds
- Commercial block paving
- Grafitti removal
- Concrete and tarmac
- Driveways
- Patios
- Plant and machinery
- UPVC shop fronts
How do we get the best cleaning results?
Sports surfaces at local clubs are different to the private tennis court that is in the shade of trees and rarely used. Pooling of water and moss growth, flattened pile and balls that veer off at an odd angle are a sure sign that the surface needs attention.
For example, if you have pets which roam outdoors, children who play in your garden, or lots of trees and shrubs, you will need to clean your synthetic lawn more often than homeowners who do not have to consider these factors.
This also relates, particularly those with pets… we won’t go into too much detail with that one, but you can use your imagination! Still, what happens there could definitely pass illnesses on to children who play regularly in these gardens.
Above all else, when it comes to the regularity or artificial grass cleaning, we would simply urge you to err on the side of caution. When the health of yourself, your family and your pets is at risk, why risk it?

Tennis Court maintenance
Tennis courts are pretty costly, and in order to safeguard that investment, you need to maintain yours on a regular basis. This is especially true of tennis courts which fall in the shade, as this can lead to significant lichen and algae growth. If these growths become too heavy, addressing the problem can be very expensive.
The lifespan of a tennis court surface could be approximately 20 years with a good maintenance plan. This could easily be halved to under 10 years, however, if regular maintenance is not carried out and in some specific conditions even less. Again, we ask you, is it really worth the risk? Maintenance of tennis courts is relatively inexpensive when carried out correctly.
